Hon. Martins Esin is an indigene of Esin Ufot in Eyoabasi Group of Villages, Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He is a seasoned businessman and politician who is renowned for his passionate advocacy for quality empowerment of young people, as well as his philanthropic disposition and enthusiastic pursuit of rural community Development.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in Marketing from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Before his début into politics and public service, Esin played in the private sector for over 13 years, within which he worked with the cement manufacturing subsidiary of the Dangote Group, Dangote Cement as Customer Service Officer, Sales Officer, Area Sales Manager for Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, and later, Key Accounts Manager in-charge of the company’s top distributors countrywide.
His aspiration to represent the people of Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urue Offong Oruko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives marked his sojourn into politics in the 2022/2023 election Year.
He emerged as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for his federal constituency’s seat ahead of the 2023 General Election and was sworn in as a Member of the 10th House of Representatives on 13th June, 2023 after his landslide victory at the polls.
Soon after his inauguration, Hon. Esin was appointed into a 6-man ad-hoc Committee of the House on Rules and Business, to help prepare grounds for smooth take-off of the 10th Assembly.
Following due consideration of his background, trainings and antecedent, he was later appointed by the leadership of the House to Chair the standing Committee on Youth Development – a position he is currently leveraging to expand the frontiers of pro-youth and education advocacy in the country, as evident in his recent calls for youth-responsive budgeting and increased incentives and economic opportunities for young Nigerians.
